It’s been a busy couple months here at Con Brio headquarters — so busy, obviously, that we haven’t had time to update this dang website. Currently writing from Utrecht, Netherlands, where the people are tall and beautiful and where, in a few hours, we’ll be playing our last show of a whirlwind international tour.
But first things first: We released a music video for “Money.”
This video was shot at the historic Swedish American Hall in San Francisco and directed by our dear friend Pete Lee, with his collective Scandinavia. It was an absolute labor of love, and we got as many friends and members of our Bay Area music family in on the act as we possibly could — make sure to watch until the end for a cameo from the local Extra Action Marching Band.
Then we fled the country.
Just kidding. But we did return to Japan, France, and the Netherlands for the second time this year, and it’s been a blast. A few highlights, in no particular order:
In Japan, Smashing Mag wrote this lovely review of our show at Shibuya Duo Exchange.
In Paris, we appeared live on Quotidien avec Yann Barthes, a late-night show with 1.2 million viewers, and filmed a set for Album of the Week on CANAL+, where we got to share the stage with indie-rock vets Nada Surf (we’ll share that when it’s out in January!).
We played to one of our biggest crowds yet at the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes, France, where Télérama named us one of the best four acts of the whole five-day fest.
The Netherlands have been incredibly kind to us as well: We played big shows in Amsterdam, Nijmegen, Groningen, Rotterdam, and Utrecht. In Amsterdam we appeared on VPRO Vrije Geluiden. And here’s a live session we did on the radio show Live uit Lloyd in Rotterdam.
We also ate a ton of frites and cheese sandwiches and stroopwafels. We like it here. Thanks for everything. We’re looking forward to a few weeks off at home now, but trust us: We’ll be back.
If you were with us last year, you know how special these two shows at The Chapel are going to be! Featuring special guests Otis McDonald on Dec 30 and Alligator Spacewalk on Dec 31! Grab your tickets before they sell out: http://bit.ly/2dWra8n

Here’s another video from our show at The Independent in San Francisco in February. It was shot with 17 GoPros by Aernow, with video editing by James McDonald and audio by our own Jonathan Kirchner. Extra points if you catch the Scofield quote in the last chorus.
